Sort your coins your way, and record what matters to you.
Put coins in categories and subcategories, such as Morgan Dollars and Carson City Morgans. Add your own fields, such as Pedigree, Strike, or Toning, and every coin page shows them.
A workspace can have up to 50 custom fields.
CoinManagerPro custom fields settings with four fields: Pedigree (text), Strike and Toning (lists of choices), and Mintage (a number). Next to it, an 1882-CC Morgan dollar in the category Carson City Morgans, with Pedigree GSA Hoard, Strike Full, Toning Light, and Mintage 1133000.
What categories and custom fields do
Categories group the coins. Custom fields hold the facts that the built-in fields do not.
Categories and subcategories
Make a category, then give it a parent to make a subcategory. Each category page lists its coins, with a search.
Set the category on many coins
Select coins on the coin list, click Edit, and set the category. You can also set it when you add a coin or accept one from photo intake.
Filter by category
Filter the coin list by category, and save the filter as a view.
Three kinds of custom field
A field holds text, a number, or one choice from a list that you set. CoinManagerPro checks each value when a coin is saved.
Fill fields from an import
In a coin import, a column with the same name as a custom field fills that field. A value that does not fit shows a warning on its row.
Custom fields in the export
The coin list export has a column for each custom field, named for the field, so you can import the file again.
Delete a category, keep the coins
When you delete a category, its coins stay in your inventory with no category. To take coins out of a category, select them on its page.
Permissions
Members with Manage settings add and change fields. Members with Edit coins fill in the values. The coin history records each change.
How to set them up
01
Make your categories
Go to Categories and add the groups you sell by, such as type, series, or metal. Add subcategories under them.
02
Add custom fields
In Settings, open Custom fields and add a field. Give it a name and a type. For a list of choices, type one choice on each line.
03
Fill in your coins
Click a value on the coin page to edit it, or select many coins and set the category and fields in one batch edit.
04
Find coins by them
Filter the coin list by category, or by a custom field that contains a value, such as Pedigree contains Eliasberg.
Questions about categories and custom fields
What happens to the coins when I delete a category?
The coins stay in your inventory with no category. If the category has subcategories, move or delete them first.
Can I change a custom field after I add it?
You can change its name, its choices, and its place in the order. You cannot change its type. When you remove a choice, coins keep that value until you change it.
What happens to the values when I delete a custom field?
Coins keep their values. The values show in the Coin section of each coin page, and you cannot edit them there.
Can a custom field have the same name as a built-in field?
No. A name such as Year or Metal belongs to a built-in field, and each custom field name must be different. This lets an import match each column to one field.
How long can a text value be?
A text value can have up to 500 characters. A list of choices can have up to 50 choices.
