Put your cost on every label in a code only your staff can read.
Set a 10-letter cipher word once. CoinManagerPro writes the cost code for each coin from its cost and prints it on the label. When the cost changes, the code changes with it.
With LARGEMOUTH, L is 1 and H is 0, so a coin that cost $125 prints as LAE.
CoinManagerPro cost code settings with the word LARGEMOUTH, where L is 1 and H is 0, and X as the repeat letter. The preview shows $125.00 as LAE, $1,155.00 as LXEX, $500.00 as EHX, and $45.75, rounded to $46, as GM. A label for an 1889-O Morgan dollar, NGC MS63, shows the code GAH for a $420 cost, next to the Decode cost code button.
What cost codes do
Cost codes are for the show floor and the counter, where a customer can read the label.
Your own cipher word
Use any 10-letter word with no repeated letters. Each letter stands for one digit. The settings page shows a preview of sample costs.
The rules dealers use
Start the word at 1 or at 0. Code whole dollars or cents too. Add a repeat letter for a digit that is the same as the one before it, and a zero letter.
On every label
Add the Cost code field to a label template, and each label prints the coin's code. You do not type the codes.
Type a code by hand
A cost code that you type on a coin replaces the automatic one, for a coin you want to mark in a different way.
Decode a label
Type a code from a label and CoinManagerPro shows the cost. The decode button is on the coin page, the labels page, and the settings page.
Hidden from members who cannot see cost
Members without the View cost permission do not see cost codes on the coin page or the coin list, and cannot decode them.
Only admins see the word
Only members with Manage settings can see or change the cipher word.
Kept off your listings
Cost codes never go on a Flow Dealers listing, your online store, or the store search.
How to turn on cost codes
01
Pick a word
In Settings, open Cost codes and type a 10-letter word with no repeated letters, such as LARGEMOUTH or BLACKHORSE.
02
Set the rules
Choose the digit for the first letter. Turn on Code cents if you want cents in the code. Add a repeat letter or a zero letter if you use them.
03
Check the preview
The preview shows each letter with its digit, and four sample costs with their codes. Click Save.
04
Print labels
Add the Cost code field to your label template. A change to a coin's cost changes the code on the next label you print.
Questions about cost codes
What is a cost code?
A cost code is a coin's cost written in letters. Each letter of a 10-letter word stands for a digit. With LARGEMOUTH, L is 1, A is 2, R is 3, and so on to H for 0. A coin that cost $420 is GAH. Staff can read the cost from the label, and a customer cannot.
What does a repeat letter do?
It replaces a digit that is the same as the digit before it. With X as the repeat letter, $1,155 is LXEX instead of LLEE, so a pair of letters does not give the code away.
Are cents in the code?
By default, the code shows whole dollars, rounded. Turn on Code cents to code dollars and cents, so $45.75 is coded as 4575.
I already write cost codes by hand. Do I have to change them?
No. A code typed on a coin replaces the automatic one, and you can import a Cost code column from a spreadsheet. Coins with no typed code get the automatic code.
What happens if I turn cost codes off?
CoinManagerPro deletes the cipher word, and labels print only the codes typed on coins. Write down the word if you want to use it again.
