Add your own fields to coins
Add a field
You must have the "Manage settings" permission.
- Go to Custom fields.
- Click "Add field".
- Enter the "Name", for example Pedigree.
- Select the "Type":
- "Text": any text, up to 500 characters.
- "Number": a number, for example a mintage.
- "List of choices": one choice from a list that you set. Type one choice on each line.
- Click "Add field".
A workspace can have 50 custom fields. A field cannot have the name of a built-in coin field, such as Year or Metal.
Change or delete a field
- To change the name or the choices, click the edit button (the pencil icon). You cannot change the type of a field.
- To change the order on the coin page, click the up and down arrows.
- To delete a field, click the delete button (the trash icon), then click "Delete field".
When you remove a choice, coins keep that value until you change it. When you delete a field, coins keep their values. The values show in the "Coin" section of the coin page, and you cannot edit them there.
Set a value on a coin
You must have the "Edit coins" permission.
- Open the coin.
- In the "Custom fields" section, click the value.
- Type the value, or select a choice. Select "None" to clear a choice.
The coin history records each change.
Set a value on many coins
- Go to Coins.
- Select the coins.
- Click "Edit".
- Under "Custom fields", turn on the field and enter the value. An empty value clears the field.
- Click "Update ... coins".
Fill fields from an import
In a coin import, a column with the same name as a custom field fills that field. A number can have commas. A choice matches without regard to upper and lower case. When a value is not a number or not one of the choices, the row shows a warning. The coin imports without that value.
